What defines you?
What defines me as a person is my family, music, sports and experiences. My family, who are very loving and accepting people, has shaped me into similar people in which they are; in the sense I too am a very accepting person who cares for everyone. I am the girl who holds doors open for people, asks crying strangers if they're okay, supplies lunch for people who don't have one. The music that I write, perform and cover shape me in a way that only other musicians will understand. We sing the words musically because it is difficult to say it normally. Playing hockey has created an important identity over the years because I have learned a great deal of committment, hard-working and team work skills. I always show up and do my best which has made me a reliable person on and off the ice. My experiences such as death of loved ones, mental health and bullying has opened my eyes to a whole other perspective of the way I need to handle situations, how to treat people and how to take care of myself in a responsible, healthy matter.. I believe that my identity will never be truly defined because I am a new person everyday with new memories, experiences and desires that I will fulfill, resulting in a new evolved identity.

This is a very inspiring post Kristyn. Your values are so clear to me, and it's something that I appreciate. There is a maturity that comes from the experiences you have, and you sound older than your years. Having people like you in our building allows us to foster the compassion that we are striving for.
