What identifies me

i am identified usually by the intelligence, height, and what i do during and after school. On my dad;s side of the family at every single family gathering i am judged on the grades i am getting in school and if i do not meet their standards then i am identified as dumb or not good enough. whereas on my mum's side no matter what my grades are like my family is still proud of be because i am a kind generous person who helps out my family and takes care of my little sister who has struggled with autism since she was born. On my dad's side of the family i am the shortest member other then the young kids, my cousin who is the same age as me is over a foot taller then me, my family doesn't understand why i'm so short.

  1. Madi, you are defining yourself by how your family sees you. This is very interesting, and also quite polarizing from the sound of it. I'm glad that you have support from one side at least, and hopefully those voices drown out the others long enough for you to see that you are successful in many ways, other than just your marks. Start capitalizing the "i", and show the world who you really are. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Madi, I can relate to this too. I am one of the shortest members of my family as well, and they like to remind me ever so often. I do not get judged by my marks, but they do have an impact on the way my family looks at me. My grades were low one year and my mother looked at me and said,"Emily what is happening with your grades?" So I can relate to how marks can effect the views of my family. You are a very intelligent girl so keep up the good work!
