What defines you?
Some of the things that defines me as a person is my job and my role as a student. To start, my job at Tim Hortons defines who I am because it is a coffee shop. People say that drinking too much coffee can make you nervous, I'm constantly drinking coffee which explains why I always worry about the simplest things. My mom didn't come home from work before 4, did she die? I didn't do so good on a math test, am I gonna fail the course? Coffee also contains caffeine. Caffeine keeps me energized enough to stay up until ungodly hours working on essays and assignments until I pass out at my computer. Then I wake up to get ready for another day at school wondering why my work sounds awful. In the morning I grab another cup of coffee so I can get through another day at school. It has become a cycle. Drink coffee to stay awake and to be able to finish assignments on time. "Be a good student, get good grades" is often said, but from my perspective it's easier said than done. Between work and school it’s hard to get homework done. I'm a procrastinator and I finish things last minute. Oh, I have an assignment due at 8:00 pm? I'll hand it in at 7:59 pm. This explains why I don’t always get the best mark. This defines my personality and my role as a student.

Good job Kellie. I enjoyed reading about what it's like having your job. I knew you liked coffee but didn't realize how often you had it until I read this. I hope you gain more confidence in your work because I know you are really smart. I can relate to you because I also have a hard time getting things done between school and dance. As well as I need to break the habit of procrastinating and doing things last minute. Thanks for sharing what defines you.
ReplyDeleteLets go on a coffee date ! I love coffee. Keep working hard in school because you are so incredibly smart. You're right about how difficult it is to be a good student and I'm glad you are trying to get things done. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKellie, I wish I could tell you that these habits may change as you get older, but this is likely going to be your "new normal" as you move on to other things. Procrastination and caffeine can be a deadly mix, as you well know! On the other hand, you never know what inspiration may strike at the final hour. I can very much relate to how you feel, and I love how you keep going despite feeling like things are always rushed. I don't think that feeling may ever go away, no matter how you may plan, prep, and consider the possibilities in advance. However, if you want to change, now is the time in your life to make small adjustments that can help you in the future. I agree with Kristyn: a coffee date is in order for all of us. We should make it happen next week.
